Build your own high-fidelity DAC

based on original designs and popular DAC ICs

Select DAC chip

Select the DAC chip that defines the core behavior and sound of your system. Typical options include modern delta-sigma CS4398, AK4490R, PCM1794A and classic multibit TDA1387

Select DAC board

Select a DAC board from the available families and revisions. Boards within the same revision are compatible and can be swapped

Select power supply

Select a steady linear transformer-based power supply compatible with your DAC board. Each DAC project page provides recommended power supply options

Select audio interface

Select a digital audio input interface for your DAC. Many designs support direct S/PDIF input. If your source already provides a compatible digital signal, an additional USB-I2S interface may not be necessary
